Miss Myra and The Moonshiners

Miss Myra is a threat on every level.  Her golden voice will bring you from rock bottom to ecstasy and back while her driving guitar rhythm holds the Moonshiners together. Her style of hard hitting swing guitar is reminiscent of Django Reinhardt. She also draws influence from legendary blues guitarists such as Leadbelly and Blind Boy Fuller. If you let her near a piano, you'll hear virtuosity from ragtime to Lizst.  In addition to her musical talent, she is known for lighting up the dance floor with tradtional American jazz dances such as lindy hop, charleston and blues.

Mumblin' Drew

Mumblin’ Drew grabs you by the ear and pulls you down a rabbit hole of traditional American music.  He treks across the landscape from country-blues guitar and harmonica-driven old-time, to an eerie banjo number or a tin pan alley oddity.  Countless hours of playing on street corners around the country has instilled a genuine approach into his performance.  But no matter where he takes you, you won't be guided astray.

Chris Holm

7:00 PM19:00

Chris Holm

Chris Holm is an acoustic folk blues & country musician based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. A fingerstyle guitar picker and harmonica player, Chris channels the high-spirited liveliness of Charley Patton, thumping on his suitcase drum, attacking his guitar strings with abandon, and shouting along in a gravelly howl, later to channel the lonesome sounds of a weeping slide guitar and a blue yodel. Despite his Northern Minnesota roots, Chris’ has formed in intimate connection with the music of the American South. Raised on the music of Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Flatt & Scruggs, The Beatles, and Creedence Clearwater Revival, he eventually dug into the music that inspired those great artists and discovered a deep appreciation for country blues and hillbilly country music. On his debut solo album, The Trains Don’t Run Here Anymore, his father’s passing and realizations of his own mortality lead Chris to spin every day tales of the emotional tides of life, yearnings for bygone eras, casting aside of the burdens of life’s expectations, following your hopes and dreams, and in the end, accepting your life for the journey it is.

Dr. Paul Elbing Retirement Bash

After 38 years of practicing medicine in Amery I am hanging up my stethoscope. I've enjoyed being your physician and you will never know the impact you've had on my life. Many of you have come into the hospital/clinic and "healed" my spirit with your stories and personalities. The joy of sharing the birth of your children, the tough times of illness/death, and the rewards of healing have been a blessing. You've exposed your mind, body, and spirit fully trusting me to help in whatever way possible andI am humbled and grateful for that opportunity.

I would like to THANK YOU by throwing a party at Amery Ale Works, Tuesday September 19 (rain date September 26) from 4-7 PM.  Appetizers will be served. I am thanking “you,” so please no gifts. If you feel the need to show your gratitude, a donation can be made to Haiti by visiting www.chihaiti.org  and following the donate drop down menu. Personal checks can be sent to CHI, PO Box 5908, Coralville Iowa 52241. Please place “Dr. Paul’s thank you” in the additional comments or memo line.

Jeff White

Jeff White

Americana/Alt-country from the hills of Western Wisconsin. Blending warm tones, reverbs, delays & vibrato with outlaw grit, Jeff White sings of love, loss & lust with an Americana vibe, channeling the melancholy country/western & dark folk music from times past.

Jeff began honing his songwriting skills working the red-eye shift as a taxi driver. Railroad conductors, heartbroken men & women after bar close and wild out-of-towners were all frequent riders who freely opened up about their personal lives. Their late night conversations were all inspirations to the genesis of his upcoming career as a songwriter and entertainer.

Jeff has toured the lower 48 from coast to coast as well as England, Scotland and Wales, singing about the realities, illusions and the wide emotional spirit of love and life in America. Much in the vein of Johnny Cash, Jeff writes and sings his own songs but also performs unique interpretations of other songs he admires. He has 6 albums under his belt and one is with Charlie Parr & international folk music legend, Greg Brown. His latest CD, 'Renegade Revelations' recently received a 4 star rating in The Netherlands on the alt-country review website, altcountry.nl

Olive Sings

7:00 PM19:00

Olive Sings

Olive Sings is an acoustic duo made up of the sweet, brilliant vocal styling of Kayla Zoltak and the down home, old time sounds of Seth Gamble. As sweet as an undiscovered fishing spot, Olive Sings is just being discovered and heard by the ears of the world.

Kayla was raised in a family of musicians and has been in bands throughout her childhood.  She continued on to attend the Minnesota School of Music and as a vocalist, has played with many musicians in different genres.  Seth spent his childhood listening to his Pa pick guitar on the front porch to Aunts, Uncles and Cousins in groups such as The Gamble Folk and Poor Bakers Dozen but it wasn’t until his mid-twenties that he would start performing as a solo artist. In 2014, Kayla and Seth came together and now perform across the Midwest as the acoustic duo Olive sings.
